four things.

4 Feb

One of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes and Cashmere, features a regular segment on the “five things” the author is currently digging. So with a reverential nod to C&C, here are my current 4 things:

  • La Tosta A “tosta” is a common Spanish dish – it’s basically a glorified open-faced sandwich…but the ingredients can get pretty creative. Last night, my friend Laura and I went to dinner at “La Tosta” in the Huertas area of Madrid. I ordered one with champiñones and ali-oli de frambuesa (mushrooms with a raspberry cream sauce). Add a cheap caña (small beer) to that and I’m basically counting down until I can go back.
  • Spotify – One adjustment to living abroad is that a lot of the websites I know and love don’t work here (Hulu and Pandora, just to name a couple). While I am definitely surviving, I was relieved to discover Spotify. It’s basically internet radio, like Pandora, except for the fact you compile your own playlists and they are stored on your desktop in an iTunes like fashion. The (embarrassing) current main-stay on my Spotify has been  Chris Brown’s “Deuces” Remix (with Kanye, Drake, and Andre 3000).
  • Jersey Shore – No explanation necessary. Season 4 is going to begin filming in ITALY in MAY. Haven’t purchased a flight yet, but don’t say the thought hasn’t crossed my mind. The possibility of a real Sunday dinner with Pauly D is just too tempting.
  • Planning upcoming trips – I have some exciting things lined up: Marrakech, Morroco next weekend and Tenerife (one of the Canary Islands) two weekends later. I also booked my spring break trip with one of my best friends for mid-April. We’ll be heading toward the Balearic Island of Mallorca (which apparently has a heavy German influence) and to the best city in the entire world, Barcelona!

    What are your current obsessions?
