lucky at ladyface.

4 Sep

So the rest of my weekend at home rolled on – Saturday night my mom and I went to my favorite restaurant, Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie (which I’ve obsessively mentioned on the blog previously when I went shortly after coming home from Spain, and when I first discovered it over a year ago). In my opinion, if I’m going home for even just a few hours, a trip to Ladyface is probably in the cards.

I started out with the new all-organic Cheseboro XPA. It was good – hoppy and light (but not quite as hoppy or flavorful as I like). My mom kept it classy and ordered a syrah.

For my entree, I ordered the flatbread…I’d never had it before but will definitely be trying it again.

My mom went with the aus jus sandwich. She’s a huge fan of a french dip sandwich, and apparently ate them all across the country on high school band road trips back in the day. After one bite of this one, she exclaimed that this was the best french dip sandwich she’d ever had.

the stuff of legend.

The waitress asked if I wanted a second drink, and I accepted that offer whole-heartedly. I stuck to one of my favs and went with the Ladyface IPA and convinced my mom to take a sip. She liked it! Huge victory.

my fav.

The best part of the night occurred when totally unexpectedly, one of my best friends from college, Amanda, strolled in with her boyfriend, Joey, and tapped me on the shoulder. Amanda is home for the long weekend from law school in DC, and I was totally surprised to see her. She wasn’t so shocked to see me there, though, since I introduced her to Ladyface last year. We chatted with them for an hour and covered a whole range of topics – law school and med school, various neuroses, and our insanely long list of mutual friends. Can’t wait til you’re officially back in LA, Amanda!

Joey and Amanda.

yep, posting this one too.

I came home and decided to make my favorite cookies from Cupcakes and Cashmere. The secret ingredient is a couple of spoonfuls of instant coffee. Are you surprised I’d love these? The 2 beers at dinner though clearly messed me up – I didn’t really read the directions and just put everything in one bowl at once and didn’t follow the specified order in the recipe. No worries though, they still turned out.

This morning I did a long run (about 9 miles – my Garmin ran out of juice yesterday so I had to estimate. #firstworldproblems) on the trail by my house. It was super hot and I wore a black, non-wicking tank top (idiot move of the day, awesome), ran some errands with my mom, and had a quick lunch at Urbane Cafe (still “leaning vegetarian” with a Portobello Mushroom sandwich), and did some Crim Law and Civil Procedure reading.

Tonight I’m heading back into LA to celebrate my friend Bryan’s birthday – thank goodness there’s no class tomorrow!

It’s funny. You are still “leaning vegetarian” and I’ve recently thought about eating a big fat juicy burger. Who am I!!?? Maybe it’s all of the burgers on this blog. Hmm…

Haha I am exaggerating a bit about this vegetarian thing (which is clear from the numerous pics of hamburgers I’ve posted) but I have been finding myself more likely to pick the vegan/vegetarian option more often lately! I am sure your cravings are related to being back in the good ol’ US of A! 🙂 That is so funny though!
