nutty.

It’s no lie I am obsessed with peanut butter. I put it on everything and – and when one of my new law school friends asked me what one food I couldn’t live with out, PB was my answer.

I got sort of freaked out a couple of weeks ago when my Dad alerted me to an impending PB shortage – apparently there was a bad harvest of peanuts this year, so as a result there won’t be a whole lot of PB to go around – and the stuff that we will be able to find will be really expensive. My Uncle even e-mailed me an article and dared me to think just how expensive PB wil be in Spain! Scary.

Anyway, when I got the opportunity to receive some free products from Swanson Health Products, I thought it would be a great for me to try a new nut butter as one of the products. Swanson sent me a whole great assortment of things –  so keep an eye out for product reviews and recipes in the near future.

so many fun things to try.

First up? MaraNatha Almond Butter.

My first thought? SO delicious, rich, and creamy. It was very similar to peanut butter, but obviously with a more almond-y taste. And, since almonds are a more robust, rich, intense flavor, that came through in the almond butter as well.

While I won’t be rescinding my love for peanut butter any time soon, I will say that I might incorporate this into my routine – and a little almond butter goes a long way, so that is nice! It had a good taste overall, but is a little bit more oily than peanut butter and has a taste that stays with you.

This morning, I put a dollop in my oatmeal (along with dried cranberries and half a banana) for a perfect fall breakfast.

breakfast of champs.

I can’t wait to try the Almond Butter on either pancakes or a waffle – and I am sure there are tons of other ways that would taste great.

Note: While Swanson sent me the Almond Butter to review, all opinions, thoughts, and words are my own.

Nut Butter Question: Has anyone tried any nut butter other than peanut butter? Favorites? Dislikes? I am trying to become a nut butter aficionado here.

I LOVE almond butter. Almonds are a way more nutritious source than peanuts are, but I definitely couldn’t replace peanut butter altogether. Have you tried sunflower butter? I hear it’s really good, but I have yet to try it.

I have NOT tried sunflower butter! On my list. Almond Butter definitely tastes more nutritious than PB, too, but not in a bad way!
