summer officially begins.

21 Jun

So summer is officially here! While the mornings in Los Angeles have been undeniably gloomy, by lunch time there is no denying what season it is. I have been “working” all week at the courthouse, but this weekend Whitney and I are road-tripping up to San Francisco for two nights to catch up with old friends, drink some Blue Bottle, and kick off the summer.

I’ve been enjoying getting to know downtown LA a little better this summer – starting with a brown-bagged lunch in the rooftop garden at the top of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. It felt like a mini-vacation in the middle of the day – and I am nearly obsessed with Frank Gehry so I need to make this a habit.

The exploring DTLA trend continued with happy hour at the Redwood on Wednesday with a small subset of my section 3 people. I enjoyed two $2 tecates (with lime) and hearing about everyone’s summers so far.

My favorite day of the work-week is Thursday because there is an amazing Farmers’ Market near City Hall with delicious food from around the world, live music, and it just so happens that I ran into probably 10 people I knew today, including my mom! Doesn’t hurt that my falafel sandwich and El Salvadorean lime/mint lemonade hit the spot, either.

aviva in line for some limonada.

city hall. #iloveLA.

Have a great weekend, everyone! See you with an SF recap soon 🙂

I am jealous of your Californian variety of foods. At least Madrid will have a bit more variety …

That’s definitely a plus about living in CA. Madrid had a lot of options- and EXCELLENT Ethiopian and Indian food. I miss it!

A roadtrip! Nothing says summer like a roadtrip. I hope you enjoy your time in SF and happy weekend. 🙂
